Carrols Restaurant Group, Inc., a growing company located in Syracuse, NY, and one of the largest restaurant companies in the U.S., has an excellent opportunity in our Training & Development department for a Manager of Technical Training & Development.

Essential Functions:

Create training documentation and eLearning for PC applications used in the restaurants for all hourly employees, front-line managers, middle managers and corporate support.


The following is a summary of the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to be successful in this position.

  • Work with the I.S., I.T., Restaurant Systems and Help Desk when new software or updates to current software needs to be documented in eLearning
  • Design and develop eLearning training on new and current training processes used in the restaurants and corporate office.
  • Manage and supervise the Carrols eLearning Instructional Systems Designer.
  • Maintain and update all Technical Training programs.
  • Keep current on all related material in eLearning.
  • Communicate all changes in Technical Training systems.
  • Gather feedback from various teams and facilitate direction.
  • Design and develop company in-house classroom Technical Training functions.
  • Implement classroom functions as needed. Present programs to employees.
  • Develop Technical Training personnel to administer classroom activities as needed.
  • Monitor Technical Training personnel to ensure correct delivery of learning objectives.
  • Order classroom related materials and distribute.
  • Research, contract, and coordinate outside Technical Training functions.
  • Facilitate classroom Technical Training needs with Region Human Resource Managers and Region Vice Presidents.
  • Coordinate rollout schedules for Technical Training for managers in the field (new system or update system rollouts).
  • Conduct train-the-trainer function for Technical Training for ongoing training and rollout systems training.
  • Provide support for all Technical Training personnel.
  • Communicate all Technical Training information to trainers.
  • Consult and advise Technical Trainers problem solving.
  • Acquisitions of new restaurants, manage the Live Support training (2 mgrs. for 5 days) at each site. Have Live Support training conference calls, provide training materials and assist with scheduling as needed. Must be able to travel and work out in the operations field during the length of the acquisition rollout.
  • Provide and manage follow-up training in the new acquisition sites after the rollout is over.
  • Provide Technical support to new District Supervisors and General Managers as needed.
  • Audit materials; reconcile purchase and billing activities for Technical Training.
  • Purchase materials.
  • Work within established budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor s degree in Management is desired. 3-5 years of management experience is desired. Valid Driver s License is required. Supervise the Instructional Systems Designer, Technical Trainers & Live Support employees. Oversee corporate Instructional Systems Designer in creation of eLearning and writing of documentation. Also provide operations support in the field. Monitor Technical Trainers for classes taught in each region along with system rollout support when applicable. Supervise Live Support personnel during acquisitions and work with new District Managers.
